THE PROJECT

Animazur is an animation film festival that took place in October 2025 at Cineum Cannes, over the course of a weekend. The festival was created to highlight animation in Cannes through an accessible and diverse program for local audiences. It featured special and preview screenings, including Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol and Arco, winner of the *Cristal for Best Feature Film at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Animazur also showcased student short films, giving emerging talents the opportunity to present their work, and offered hands-on workshops, such as animation and stop-motion workshops, encouraging discovery, creativity, and exchange around animation.

THE MISSION

The mission involved overseeing the creative direction of Animazur, including the development of the festival’s visual identity and overall communication. This covered the design of the logo, illustrations, animated elements, and all graphic materials across both print and digital platforms, with the aim of creating a cohesive and distinctive universe aligned with the spirit of Animazur as an animation festival for both children and adults. The main poster drew inspiration from the visual style of The Triplets of Belleville by Sylvain Chomet, echoing the preview screening of Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol presented during the festival. The mission also included the creation of all communication assets, such as posters, visual materials for screenings and previews, and social media content. In addition, the development of the student short film section, including participation in the selection jury, contributed to highlighting emerging talents and to the creation of the Best Student Short Film Award for this edition.

Official Animated Trailer for the Festival

This animated trailer was produced from concept to final delivery, covering the entire creative process, including storyboarding, animation, and editing. A vintage visual universe was developed, inspired by the aesthetic of The Triplets of Belleville, to align with the festival’s artistic identity. This creative approach also led to the creation of the festival’s official mascot, Arthur the penguin, designed as a distinctive and unifying character. Like many festival trailers, the purpose of this project was to promote the event while highlighting its partners, ensuring visual consistency across all communication platforms.
